About The Band

The Community Band of Steelton and Highspire was founded by Gail Romanofsky in the early 1990s. The band is comprised of current and former students of Steel-High, as well as their family members, friends, and other members of the community. Our focus is on sharing the joy of making music in a supportive and fun environment.

Our band is unique because young people can play alongside their parents and grandparents. Our music is carefully arranged to be simple enough for our younger members while also being fun and challenging for adults. The band’s repertoire is pulled from many genres including pop, swing, jazz, classical, and standards. You’ll recognize many of our tunes and will undoubtedly learn some new favorites.
